Been nice knowing you… Seriously, I wonder if there have been any failures as a result of this ‘eating away’ at the rim. I have all the stuff and at least two wheels sets are Stands, but I have never made/found the time to slap it all together.
it looks like it is when the wheel finish has been damaged. i had actually seen that article the other day... i am sure there would be all sorts of posts on mtbr if it were a common problem. i would not call 2 old rims an issue.
but obviously you need to watch for it. there are alot more things to worry about on a bike. like bars, post, frames cracking etc.
dave i suggest you DON't convert to tubeless. you don't need more traction, speed and flat protection...
Would you call that unintentional weight weenie-ism? Doh, I just went tubeless.
