it's funny how many folks love to hate this race but it's on my top five fav's..esp the yr it snowed(and Ian, Myself, and Dave from B&B, camped in one of the warming huts the night b/f)...ah memories....
ReplyDeleteI predict a cancellation of this race due to not enough snow melting action, but i have been wrong before.
ReplyDeleteI like the race. People should just be thankful there are volunteers willing to get up at the crack of dawn and drag their butts around in the cold, dark (and possibly mid-calf deep snow), windy trails to put on a race for them. Win lose or draw I will have a great time racing at Grand Beach.
ReplyDeleteI like this race, just not the 3.5 hr drive.... I'll be there though.
ReplyDeleteYou are a trooper!
ReplyDeleteIf the weather is good (and even if it sucks) I will try and put a whack load of extra laps (i.e., just easy) in after the race. It would be great to have company. I imagine, however, your family might like to have you back at some point.
There are a crazy number of extra long races and only so much time (too little) for training.
Consider that a standing invitation for all the Cup Races and for anybody who might what to burn some extra calories after the main event.
think WARM. it is still 4 weeks away, let's not cancel it yet. it is always a little sketchy racing is april anyway. even early may (last year sandilands).
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, I'll take the extra laps most any other day, but I leave for SD and hills that next morning...
ReplyDeleteIf the race isn't on, I leave Sat.... so I'm kinda on the fence here.
I will certainly show you some of our decent trails at my home course if I can sneak away after it's done.
