Last winter when the snow suddenly melted and all the 'leftovers' were displayed on my front lawn I realized that at least 90% of them were PLASTIC BAGS! I setup a garbage can on the boulevard trying to encourage people to be more mindful of both the environment and my neighborhood.
If you have not already please do buy a back pack and please please stop using plastic bags!
Be a good neighbor and don’t litter!

I live on a corner house... come winter our front yard looks the same... summer is also a whole new story.. we also (in)conveniently have a bus stop beside our house... which also leads to the bouevard getting laced with slurpee cups, bar wrappers, plastic bags, shopping carts... half of the garbage also ends up in our backyard.... now comes the battle trying to keep the dogs away from the garbage... ahh yes... we've called transit several times to get the stopped moved further down away from our hose due to this , but all we ever get is not our fault...
ReplyDeletehey, in winter, i ride along Brady Road a lot (the road that goes to the "Brady Road" dump). trucks heading to the dump use that road all the time, so there is often pieces of drywall, old tires etc on the road or in the ditch. and in yesterday's wind there were magazine pages blowing all over the place, straight down the road, south to north. i finally stopped to grab a few pages to recycle them when i got home... turns out they were playboys. not sure my loving wife wants me bringing that kinda "trash" home.
ReplyDeletethey say the amount of plastic in the ocean will collapse many of those ecosystems before the GHE
ReplyDeleteEvery Wednesday during the spring-summer-fall interval sessions at the Dump I have a “trash” day. Fill a bag and get rid of the trash in your life. It is very sad how little respect most people have for the city green spaces and the environment in general. The key is to start with the young ones teaching them to ‘actively’ respect the environment. It is no longer enough to passively support; only a concerted effort will turn the tide. Perhaps it is too late.
