After a long stint of marking the other day my daughter commented that I looked (she made a puffy cheeked expression and a bodybuilder pose) “puffy”. I helped her articulate what she had noticed. I looked “fat”. Yes I have gained back every single pound of weight I worked so hard to strip off. On the bright side marking is finished (for now) and I can get back to riding my bike. At this rate I am eating myself off the podium.

Fat and Fit?

Puff Daddy? Dave? I don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteThe human body of 50,000 years ago when we were hunter/gathers is exactly the same as the human body of today. Our body had successfully adapted to continuous cycles of feast and famine. How did it adapt? It adapted by developing extremely efficient fat storage capabilities.
ReplyDeleteBy storing large amounts of fat whenever possible, the body would protect itself against the inevitable famine to come when food was scarce.By storing up large amounts of energy, our ancestors could survive the harsh conditions and thrive. In winter conditions, it would often come down to survial of the fattest, not fittest.
it's that 2 crate per day apple addiction dave.
ReplyDeletejust watch the artificial sweeteners a.k.a. xeno estrogens which can and contribute to fluid and weight gain. also salty foods can lead to fluid gain. and if you are still continuing to look "puff" after exercise ensure you heart/kidney's are woking well for that can sometimes lead to water retention. but i am sure none of this applies to you.
ReplyDeleteif it is just simple weight gain...it happens to every student. don't be so hard on yourself. you have the tools to fight the puffy monster. so giv'er when you get the time.
