Thursday’s workout: did not happen. That is the first time in 30+ years (perhaps ever) that I have not run/skied or hammered on the bike X-Mass day. It might have been the huuuge heaping plate at dinner (worth at least 3 of the Hurry For Curry little things you call plates) or the entire pie I gobbled down, but it was probably a scheduling issue.
Friday’s Workout: I have been running on Sundays, but the weather look promising for the weekend and I was hoping to take a break from the confines of the rollers in the basement so I put in a 3-hours tempo run.
Saturday’s workout: 3-hours of the saddle (low cadence)
Total Time Week: ~ 13-hour (cardio only)
Sunday’s workout: ~ 2-hours 30-minutes of classic (almost 30k) at BHP. My first time on the boards in 3 or 4 years (watch out Tomek! ;). Sweet… but rather cold, very slow (which made for a high tempo ski (i.e., no glide)), and too many 'skiers' on the tail.
Monday: (high cadence) 3-hours
Ha! Finally, and maybe the last time ever, I was on the bike when you weren't!! 2hrs on xmas.. it was warm..er out!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were just counting bike hrs.... wonder what I should count work as... slackin' maybe?
Not only was I not on my bike was stuffing my face. Now the punishment begins! I have dropped under 170 and on the way down. Easy to lose but hard to keep it off.
ReplyDeleteI would say that you should count your work hours, especially if the hours/intensity varies. It is part of your volume.
About 20-years ago when the girls were tinny I delivered mail on a bike. Each day I would run up/down stairs over and over. I considered it part of my training (I could have taken the elevator), tracked the volume, and would plan light/easy and hard/heavy days.
I hope everyone else is training. You race on your fitness 6-months before the event, not 6-weeks.
Thanks Dave, yes the stairs are easier while running!
ReplyDeleteUnder 170? I am a monster at just a hair under 140!! 4 lbs off my racing weight, (5'7") but I can't gain much lbs no matter what I eat, and I eat lots.
Muscle? This is an endurance sport. You need enough to push the pedals, watts watts watts, but that is more a function of aerobic development (i.e., supply of 02) then it is strength.
ReplyDeleteoh man, i am only doing 10 hours a week... i mean a month. seriously, the trainer sucks big time and so does minus 25. keep it up though guys, i am looking forward to watching you both battle for the overall this season.
ReplyDeletewonder if i am going to have just Christmas baking for lunch now?
I will just be battling to keep Dave within the same time zone.... but thanks for that Kevin.
