Trail Closures: This Totally Sucks!

There have been a total of 217 fires reported so far this season, burning a total of 84,288 hectares. This is in comparison to the 16 year average of 401 fires and 157,668 hectares as of this date.

Due to the continued drying of the forests in eastern Manitoba, it has now become necessary to implement travel restrictions for Areas 1, 2, and 3. These precautions are necessary in order to reduce the risk of human caused wildfires. The travel restrictions are in addition to the fire ban already in place. These areas also include, Grand Beach and Birds Hill Provincial Park. The hours of operation are also limited to 8 pm to noon the following day for forestry, mining, and quarry operations. Propane and gas appliances are still permitted.
