Dutch cyclist Bos charged over Turkish race crash

IGLE, Switzerland (AP)—Dutch cyclist Theo Bos was charged with an infringement and must face a disciplinary hearing to explain his role in a crash at the Tour of Turkey.

The International Cycling Union announced in a statement Friday that it “has deemed that Theo Bos’s behavior undermined the image, reputation and interests of cycling.”

Bos, a former track world champion and 2004 Olympic silver medalist who converted to road racing this season, faces a ban up to six months.

The 25-year-old Bos appeared to grab race leader Daryl Impey and pull him to the ground near the end of the final stage of the Turkish event on April 19.

Impey suffered back and facial injuries, and Bos was disqualified. He said later he did not intend to cause a crash but grabbed Impey because he was trapped near a barrier and thought he would fall.

HTFUp! Training: 2-Weeks in Review

Ok now I am 'trying' to get fit now but it a little too late to make much of a difference. Even with exams behind me I can’t say I have had much more time to devote to the bike. I have continued to do what I can when time will allow. The regime for the last 2-weeks has only change in some small ways:

Saturday: Intervals at BHP – 10 repeats of 4-min efforts (SLT @ V02max) 1:1, followed by a punishing resistance leg-core workout.

Sundays: 3-hours + at Bur Oak zipping off some loops on the cross fixie

Monday-Tuesday-Friday: Paris-Roubaix Training has ended with the better weather but I am still putting in 3 or 4 hours of hunkered down in the drops.

Wednesday Intervals: Taking a Dump on the Tire Climb for 30-minutes (up and down), followed by the standard leg-core workout.

Thursday: 3-4 hours with 3-6 x 6-minute intervals at threshold (1:1) some where in the middle of the ride.
