Toasted a front wheel in the opening sprint as everyone anted up, but I manage to catch Tomek who was on fire. It must have been the Belgian knee warmers ;) I push for 2-laps with the front brake virtually locked out. It finally totally seized in protest right in front of Cool-Hand-Luk, and I almost tasted dirt. After I removed the front brake, and pulled back in 4 or 5 riders, but the gaps were sizable, and despite the shouts of encouragement, and the odd snowball from our local Hooligans my legs were running on vapours. Then the snow came howling in like a banish from hell with 60 km winds. Now that is Cross Racing WinterPeg Style! It was all damage control from there on in. Maxis 310 at maximum psi in a full on blizzard are about as bad a choice of tiers as can be made. Every corner was a fairground of thrills and spills. I believe next weekend worse choices are going to be made at the 3rd Annual Grudge Cross. See ya there!

MAXIS 310's on full psi would be the second worse choice you could make.
ReplyDeleteroad slicks with max psi was the worst, i found that out the hard way.
