Gear: 40/16
Bike Weight: 17 lbs 11 ounces
Weather: Sunny 20ÂșC with ~15 NNE Wind (a perfect race day)
Race Course Condition: Very fast, tacky soil with 3 huge deep puddles in the normal spots.
Race Course Changes: Danny R. added a new section just before we climb back up out of the escarpment pushing the lap distance up to an even 9 km. It is an undulating off camber section that swings around in a wide arch to hook up with the last climbing switch back. This course, which was once best defined as a “road race off-road” is becoming climber race. The course becomes more technical and challenging every year. I think we will have to have Provincials here in a year or two.
Number of Single Speeders: Unlike last year, there was a very poor turn out of Hooligans. By my count there was only 3 of us; Graham, young Chris Benson, and myself.
